The Beginning

From Beirut to Gothenburg

Joseph Mounayer’s journey in the world of wine began in Sweden, where he built his foundation within the restaurant industry and quickly developed a deep understanding of what truly drives both wine sales and outstanding guest experiences. Through his work at Bookatable by Michelin, Joseph was part of the process of supporting and distributing Michelin stars across Scandinavia, giving him a rare insight into the very highest level of gastronomy and what it takes to create world-class dining experiences. Joseph has taken part in trainings with both WSET and the Court of Master Sommeliers, which together with his hands on experience have shaped a sharp and well rounded wine expertise where theory meets real world application. With strong roots in his Lebanese heritage, he has also worked internationally, bridging two wine cultures united by a shared passion for quality, history, and craftsmanship. This drive led him to found the Association des Sommeliers du Liban (ASLIB) and the Sommeliers Academy in Lebanon – initiatives dedicated to educating and shaping the next generation of sommeliers. As former captain of the Lebanese National Sommelier Team, he has also played a key role in putting Lebanon on the global wine map. In Sweden, Joseph made a strong impact as Head of Wine for Götaplatsgruppen in Gothenburg, where he developed wine programs that were both commercially successful and created memorable guest experiences. This unique combination of international perspective and operational restaurant expertise became the foundation of Vin i Tid (Vinitid AB). Based in Gothenburg, the company was founded with a clear vision: to connect some of the world’s most exciting small scale producers with restaurants seeking authenticity, character, and wines with a true sense of place. At Vin i Tid, wine is not just a product – it is a story, a craft, and an experience worth sharing.

Gastro Experience

Alongside Vin i Tid, Joseph co-founded Gastro Experience together with Eros Teboni — crowned Best Sommelier in the World 2018 by the Worldwide Sommelier Association, and Best Sommelier of Italy 2021. Together they organise exclusive wine trips for sommeliers from all over the world, immersing participants in specific wine regions — from the vineyards of Burgundy to the ancient cellars of Lebanon's Bekaa Valley. It is more than education. It is an experience designed to forge the same personal relationships with producers that have always been at the heart of Joseph's philosophy.
